Flashboard Risers

Designed for farmers, duck hunters and environmentalists alike - especially in the coastal region of North Carolina

Purpose

Flashboard risers are traditionally used to control water flow from a channel, pond, or impoundment. These structures enable you to change the desired water level within the pond or channel by using stoplogs that are supplied in 6” increments. These levels can be manipulated from high to low or vice versa by simply adding or removing a stoplog. Our stoplogs are made with salt-treated timbers (Tongue & Groove or Ship lap) or for a permanent solution Aluminum logs are available with lifting hooks.

These structures also benefit the aquatic ecosystem by separating soil contaminants from a moving body of water. By slowing the flow of a creek or stream, flashboard risers allow sediments and other toxic particles to settle out before water is allowed to continue into larger tributaries.

Construction

Our Flashboard Risers are fabricated using a Corrugated Aluminum half pipe that is vertically oriented with aluminum channel guides welded to either end to accept the stoplogs. On the backside of this vertical riser, we weld the desired diameter outlet pipe that will pass through the dam carrying the outflow of water. Single bay flashboard risers are available in widths up to 42” with wider spans supplied with two or more bays.

Custom Configurations

In addition to our standard aluminum risers with timber stoplogs, concrete risers and aluminum stoplogs are available upon customer request.
